It Will Make Others Smile.

It began in January 2008 when I was trying to figure out what to do with the excess of yarn that I had in my possession; there are only so many afghans and scarves one person can have, and I gave about as many as I could to friends and relatives before the list of people who had not received a yarn gift from me ran out.

Then it hit me. Why not create an organization where people less fortunate than myself could experience the same warm and happy feeling from a simple, yet heartfelt gift; from this idea, Chained with Love was born.

Using yarn from my personal stash, along with yarn donated by folks I shared my vision with, I made and distributed crocheted and knitted scarves to homeless women and their children, preemie baby booties to a local hospital's neonatal unit, and prayer shawls to people in assisted living communities.

I enjoy sharing the feeling that someone cares with the people that could really use a bit of love, hope and compassion in their lives.

Today we donate scarves (November to March) to The Road Home, a shelter for homeless woman and their families working to get back on their feet.

All worthy recipients in Dane County Wisconsin. All with the generosity of yarn companies and people in the community, like me, who care.

***

Chained With Love distributes specially made, crocheted and knitted scarves to those in need. Items are made using bright colored yarns, creative special touches, and a lot of love; all to bring a smile, even for a fraction of a moment, to the lives of someone who needs it most.

Why not let someone know you care? Contact me to find out how you can.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://chainedwithlove.blogspot.com/2009/10/chained-with-love.html' title='Be a Do-Gooder.
